Outside of class I've been working with Dr. Veronica Paz on an undergraduate research project analyzing Boeing's capital allocation decisions — comparing how Boeing and Airbus invested their money over an 11-year period. I got the chance to present that at the PEA Best Undergraduate Paper Contest and I'm presenting again at U-SOAR in August 2026.

An undergraduate research project analyzing Boeing's capital allocation decisions using SEC 10-K filings. The study compares Boeing's spending on buybacks versus R&D against Airbus over an 11-year period, looking at what those choices say about each company's priorities.
Boeing spent nearly twice as much on stock buybacks as it did on research and development between 2013 and 2019, a pattern with no parallel at Airbus over the same period.
The analysis spans 2014 to 2025 using primary source 10-K filings, making it one of the most comprehensive undergraduate treatments of Boeing's capital decisions.
By benchmarking Boeing against Airbus, the research isolates industry-wide factors from company-specific decisions, strengthening the case that Boeing's choices were deliberate departures from best practice.
This research used a primary-source forensic accounting approach. Rather than relying on secondary analysis, every data point was pulled directly from official SEC filings — the same documents auditors and institutional investors use.
Collected annual 10-K filings for Boeing and Airbus spanning 2014–2025 from SEC EDGAR and Airbus investor relations.
Isolated R&D expenditure, share repurchase, and capital expenditure line items from each filing for consistent year-over-year comparison.
Benchmarked Boeing's allocation ratios against Airbus to separate industry trends from company-specific financial decisions.
Translated raw financial data into visual representations showing the divergence between Boeing and Airbus investment patterns over time.
Presented "Trading Tomorrow for Today" at the Pennsylvania Economic Association annual conference. Also served as paper discussant for Jordyn Trusnovic's paper "Investigating the Drivers of Profit in Nonprofit Hospitals Over Time," which received second place.
